Thandi Mohale
Chief Executive Officer
Thandi is a lifelong serial entrepreneur whom, since the dawn of South Africa’s democracy, has been intimately involved in property and the built environment. She started in retail, being one of the first black women to own a Steers and Spar franchise, and continuing to build a shopping mall of her own in Limpopo. In 2006, she threw her hat into the construction industry, where she has gained over 15 years of experience building homes, schools and roads across the country. As CEO and founder of MHL House, she oversees investment and financial strategy, capital allocation and corporate governance. She is a lawyer by profession (LLB, Wits) and practises as a mediator of the High, Regional and Magistrates Courts.

Poroma Mohale
Chief Operating Officer
Poroma has spent most of his professional career in the built environment. He joined Herocon, his family construction company before graduating and spent 5 years at the helm, building schools and homes. Looking to pivot; he became a stockbroker at Sygnia, a JSE-listed asset manager, before moving on to his current venture as COO of MHL House. Poroma manages MHL’s portfolio, identifying investments and seeing them through acquisition, construction/renovation and marketing. He also oversees the performance of property and facilities managers. He holds a BCom (Hons) in Business Finance from Wits.

MHL House develops, owns and manages residential and commercial property in South Africa. Our portfolio spans five assets across Johannesburg, Cape Town and Polokwane, from short-stay furnished apartments to a fully let commercial office building.

We identify and acquire undervalued residential and commercial property in areas with room to grow. Our work runs from sourcing and appraisal through to due diligence and transfer.
Development & Renovation
We renovate and repurpose buildings to a standard that lasts. Design and finishes are trend-aware and tasteful rather than fashionable, chosen so the space still reads as considered years after handover.
Letting & Property Management
We manage what we own and oversee the property and facilities managers we appoint. We also let our own stock, short-term and long-term, residential and commercial.
